Obviously the best way is to have a block that can be machined to match properly, and the machine shop should always ask to have the pistons in hand before beginning (and label all pistons, etc) Im assuming you have a block that was bored already that you want to verify will have the right clearance? To answer the original question, it depends on your HP levels, but anything above... 500 HP, especially for a TT, you may want a little more clearance. I have built them up to 0.0035" clearance for forged aluminum pistons on high HP motors.
